Students at Sir Lick Middle School loved learning about and doing pendulum painting! Students created unbelievable images and found it to be an interesting and entertaining way to learn geometry and get an insight about the universe. They also learned that once they complete this process, it can be used as a frame for their picture. It can be used as a creative and fun way of working on their project.
The experiment involved suspending a pendulum on a string and swinging it a number of times for a period of time. In this experiment, a lot of factors had to be taken into account. As the magnet would collide with the needle at the top, it would send the pendulum swinging and make the needle go up and down as it would be mounted to the magnet. As the pendulum would coincide with the changing position of the magnet, it would go up and down. This would change the condition of the needle. As it went up, it would cause the needle to be charged positively as the Earth's magnetic field got stronger. But, as the pendulum would go down, the needle would lose its charge or be discharged. The charge of the needle could be measured by two matched electrodes. As the pendulum swung down and charged the needle, the needle would draw electricity from the wire the pendulum was swung. If the pendulum went up and discharged the needle, the needle would drop electricity on the wire. By measuring the current the needle could be charged or discharged based on the level of the electricity. It could be kept in any of the two states and the pulse could be measured.
A pendulum, as the name suggests, is the most versatile item of physics. Just like the iron ball better known as the gyroscope, it can be used to find out many things. Pendulums have been used as a tool in medicine, to ensure the 'health' of people, to create indoor gardens and even be used as a form of communication. It all started with the Indians in ancient times and eventually spread across the continents... d2c66b5586
