Perras (lit. Bitches) is a 2011 Mexican Drama film directed by Guillermo Ríos based on the play of the same name. Its plot revolves around 10 schoolgirls who are all suspects of something terrible that happened at school, focusing in the memories and feelings of each girl. This is the device that gives us a glimpse of the ethics, games, aesthetics and eroticism of these girl-women.
A group of private secondary schoolgirls have to remain in their classroom and wait for the police to arrive and interrogate them, since they all are suspects of something terrible that had just happened at their school. The movie begins as the initial narrator quietly sits in the back of the classroom, separated from the rest, while the others simply ignore her. As they wait, the memories and feelings of each girl are explored. Each one has a story to tell, which explains how they become connected as the movie progresses, it is gradually revealed that Maria and Sofía, although they have opposite personalities, became best friends over time, and despite Maria's initial introverted nature, she was dazzled by Sofia's free way of life, gradually accepting it as her own, to the point where she agrees to have sex with her best friend's father. As a result, she becomes pregnant, and in a desperate attempt to terminate her pregnancy, she tries to perform an abortion in the school's bathroom. The abortion results in Maria's death due to blood loss, finally revealing that she has been dead from the beginning. It is not the real Maria, but her memory that is one who has been narrating, directing the story only to Diana, who being blind, has the ability to \"spot her\". One girl can be seen running away in panic from the area where the corpse is found, but it is unclear if she just found the body, or assisted Maria.
The villainess of a Teen Drama, the Alpha Bitch is the Distaff Counterpart to the Jerk Jock or Big Jerk on Campus, and usually his girlfriend;note sometimes he's also her attack dog what he does with his fists, she does with a sharp tongue and sharper manipulation. She is often surrounded by a fawning Girl Posse who suck up to her and act as her faithful minions. She's very likely to be a Narcissist, a Drama Queen, a fashionista, a Valley Girl, a Bratty Teenage Daughter, a Daddy's Girl, an Attention Whore, and/or a Proud Beauty. May also be (or be close to) one of the cheerleaders.
If given some Character Development, she will become a Defrosting Ice Queen and grow into a Spoiled Sweet, or a Lovable Alpha Bitch. This might come from a reveal that she's actually hiding the fact that she's very easily-embarrassed. This trope is probably so common because everyone who wasn't homeschooled knew someone like this... or was one. It self-perpetuates because girls who want to be popular will copy what works on TV. They might even become the mask.
Once she's all grown up, she's likely to turn into an Obnoxious Entitled Housewife, treating service workers and her neighbors (especially her fellow mothers, some of whom probably went to school with her) the same way she treated her classmates in high school.
Also note that while most of the aforementioned Passive-Aggressive examples can also be insulting if they want to, it's usually something minor in the story they do to help reveal their true nature to the audience. They tend to find a lot more value in manipulating others for popularity than they do in just abusing people and being an all-around unlikable bully like the Aggressive examples. Which type she is basically just depends on what her goal is, whether it'd be wanting to use the entire school to help her rise up or just wanting to use brutality to bring others down.
Also, do not confuse it with Spoiled Brat, an exaggerated version of the trope, mostly associated with the under 12-aged juvenile delinquents, rather than with the Jerkasses. Also, if a girl becomes a Spoiled Brat, it's mostly meant to be a Bratty Half-Pint, with a somewhat deadpan note The snarking is a trait most commonly associated with tomboys. attitude.
Really great post!! Having all girls, these tips will really help. I have to say I definitely found Year 2 for my 7 year old this year was hard, very cliquey and she was often left out. Girls really can be so so mean.
i have lived by this code since the age of 7 when i started to be picked on sometimes it works wonders but other times you have to live day in and out with these people seeing them at school and life can be lonely and miserable being the person of someone else unwanted attention, as your trying to be the better person. Evan at 40 these mean girls are still around just outside the school gates instead i bet they will be there when we are all 60 to. Sometime its not about how many friends you have and trying to please people its about maybe enjoying the quality of one awesome friend or even being contented with yourself.
I love your post so much it goes to show that you can never please everyone but just keep trying to be the best person you can be and say sod it to all those others out there that dont get that your a totally fab girl. People come and people go in life.
Great post Helen, so true. I have been on the receiving end of mean girls way too many times and even when I first started blogging online which almost made me delete my whole blog and quit. Your words are inspiring and your advice is great. Thanks for this lovely post. I never understood a bully
Here exile from power meets exile from language at the crossroads between the worlds of formal experimentation and the need for a language in which to live the particular kind of damaged lives inflicted on certain kinds of girls.
There you have it, Gauchos, a list of people for you to give the nastiest look you can muster. I hope that for your sake, you never have to deal with any of these people nearly as much as I do. Hopefully when these people see this list, they might rethink their lives and stop being such fake fucking bitches. One can only hope!
You love and loathe boss-ass bitches in teen movies. They're the ones you can't stop talking about after the credits roll. This movie archetype is as prevalent as the maverick cop who doesn't play by the rules or the underdog who takes down his adversary when the odds are against them. So why not revel in reprehensible behavior and bask in the boss-ass bitchiness
Like it or not, Mean Girls is a generation-defining film. Depending on your circle of friends, it's possible not a single day goes by you don't hear a quote from this movie. But can a movie really be considered classic without a great movie villain Enter Regina George, played to peak-bitch perfection by Rachel McAdams, who makes a hell of an entrance. As in, slow-motion walking down the school hall while boys slam their bodies into lockers out of admiration and fear.
Regina George has become synonymous with Head Bitch in Charge. For millennials, she's the first face that springs to mind when you're asked to picture a high school mean girl. She's a master manipulator and it took a team of teens, plus a school bus, to bring her down. There aren't many queen bees with such a death grip on the high school crown.
Two words: Cocaine. Crucifix. That's all you need to know about why Kathryn Merteuil earns her place on this list of the baddest bitches in the teen movie game. Kathryn, played with sexy coke-sniffing aplomb by Sarah Michelle Gellar, hides her drug addiction in her crucifix necklace, which she unscrews and takes bumps.
Picking up where Heathers and its death toll left off, Jawbreaker starts off with a mean girl clique, headed by Courtney (Rose McGowan), accidentally killing the fourth member of their gang with a jawbreaker. The cold, calculating Courtney uses her head instead of losing it; they cover up the murder, while bribing the school geek/manslaughter-discoverer with the promise of popularity to keep the murder on the DL.
After she's mistaken for a virgin by an alt-rock band and sacrificed in a Satanic ritual meant to fuel the band's success, not-a-dead-and-not-a-virgin Jennifer develops a taste for human flesh, specifically teenage boys. Jennifer is like a paranormal progression for the mean girl archetype. And it's damn fun to watch.
In Heathers, Heather Chandler, leader of the Heathers (the high school clique that set the template for Mean Girls's Plastics), is killed off by a member of her gang. During her short on screen tenure, actress Kim Walker imbues Chandler with such ferocious bitchery and popularity-climbing ambition, she leaves an impression that far outlasts the film's length
Isis does not take the theft of her team's cheers lying down. She takes the fight to her rival school grounds and, Jesus, does she go in. Isis earns her place on this list by being unapologetic, determined and also, she's literally a Head Bitch in Charge. She's head cheerleader. It doesn't get more Head Bitchy than that.
What difference did the vote make Were modern women emancipated The press noticed 'modern girls', with office jobs, short skirts, a swimsuit, sex appeal (known as 'SA' or 'It'), keen on make-up, smoking, dancing and the flicks. But how real were her gains This module explores the words and experiences of British women in a century of rapid social, economic and cultural transformation - when what it meant to be a 'British woman' was itself revolutionised. We will determine the constraints on women in war and peace, politics, education and paid work, marriage, motherhood and family, and celebrate rebels and non-conformists. But we will also explore women's dreams and disappointments in courtship and romance, sexual relationships and desire, domesticity and home-making, consumerism and fashion.
The students laughed, and the girl slammed her textbook down the throat of her backpack and hooked the strap onto her shoulder's knob. Her flip flops slapped up the aisle between desks, but Sheriff Holata grabbed the girl's arm befor
