1. If you want to make a startup disk, it asks if you want to create a startup disk.
A startup disk is a floppy disk image that will allow you to boot your computer from the floppy disk. You can use this to go from the floppy disk to a normal Windows 98 boot!
1.1. If you do not make a startup disk, it will prompt you to reboot your computer. Select okay.
Then, you're asked how much you want to reserve for a program partition. This is a small space reserved in the C: drive and a window pops up to choose what area to reserve. Leave the default for now and click on OK.
It then asks for the size of the partition. Leave the default for now and click on OK.
To then obtain the older image, again, the floppy image is used. But now, it must be on the virtual machine hard drive, and not on the floppy drive.Again, to boot from the hard drive, you must choose to release the floppy image through the virtual machine menu first. You don't need to choose a release floppy image.
The program then goes on to make the needed space for the partition. Once space is reserved for the partition, it asks if you want to enable large disk support.
1.2. If you do not enable large disk support, it will prompt you to reboot your computer. Select okay.
Then, it asks for the size of the partition. Leave the default for now and click on OK.
After your computer reboots, get to a DOS prompt. From there, follow the instructions on the DOS terminal window to extract the raw image file. When the file is extracted, enter (All on one line):
dr1 diskimage.img
After you read the warning, reboot the machine. After booting to the recovery console, use the steps outlined above to extract the image file. After finishing the extraction, your first step will be to copy the raw image file to your C drive.
